Maserati watches at Nordur

Maserati watches are Italian design on the wrist: chronographs with a tachymeter scale, three-hand watches with date and automatic models, drawn with the lines of motorsport and made under licence by Morellato in Italy. About the Maserati series

Maserati divides its watches into collections by character. Velocità is the slim and the cushion-shaped ones, Competizione and Sfida the sporty ones with a rotating bezel, Attrazione and Successo the affordable chronographs and three-hand watches, Traguardo the large chronographs, Epoca and Potenza the classic ones – several of them automatic – and Dark Edition the models in dark dress. Royale and Ricordo are two small collections with few models.

The movements are Japanese calibres from Miyota and Seiko. Nordur's range covers 13 series; the largest are Velocità (39), Competizione (35), Attrazione (30), Successo (30), Traguardo (25). Maserati Velocità

Velocità is the largest collection in the range. It spans from slim Slim models at 40–41 mm through chronographs at 43 mm with a tachymeter scale to women's watches at 35 mm; eight of the watches have a cushion-shaped case. Most are quartz, a few automatic, and some are Special Editions. Water resistance is 5 or 10 ATM. At Nordur we carry 39 models from Velocità for men and women, from DKK 995 to DKK 2.695. Maserati Competizione

Competizione is round watches, all water-resistant to 10 ATM. The men's models measure 43 mm, the women's watches 31 mm. Several of the cases combine steel and ceramic, and a number have a rotating bezel. Many show the day and date or have a 24-hour display; a couple are automatic. Maserati Attrazione

Attrazione is quartz watches at the lower end of the price scale: men's watches at 43 mm and women's watches at 30 mm, all water-resistant to 5 ATM. Besides three-hand watches with date there are multifunction watches with two time zones and some chronographs. Some of the women's watches are set with zirconia. Men's and women's watches from Maserati

Maserati for men: 224 items, from DKK 795 to DKK 5.095. The men's watches are chronographs, three-hand watches and automatic models in steel, some with ceramic, with a diameter of 40–46 mm, chronograph watches / sports watches, classic watches and sports watches and water resistance from 5 ATM / 50 metres to 20 ATM / 200 metres.

Maserati for women: 23 items, from DKK 895 to DKK 1.695. The women's watches are small models from Attrazione, Competizione, Velocità, Epoca and Royale, most on a steel bracelet, diameter 30–36 mm and water resistance from 5 ATM / 50 metres to 10 ATM / 100 metres.

Gender is a guide, not a rule. Diameter matters more for how the watch sits: up to 36 mm looks small on most wrists, 40–42 mm is the classic medium size, and 43–46 mm is a large, sporty watch – and that is where most of the Maserati range sits. Movement, glass and water resistance

The watches in the range have quartz movement (220) and automatic movement (27). The quartz watches run on a battery and have the chronograph's stopwatch, 24-hour display or two time zones as the typical functions. The automatic movements are wound by the movement of the arm; several of them show the movement through a glass case back or an open dial. Glass: hardened mineral crystal (214), sapphire-coated mineral crystal (22) and sapphire crystal (11) – sapphire crystal stands up to keys and table edges without scratching, hardened mineral crystal is the usual choice at the lower end, and sapphire-coated mineral crystal sits in between.

Water resistance ranges from 5 ATM / 50 metres (withstands a swim at the surface), 10 ATM / 100 metres (withstands swimming and snorkelling) and 20 ATM / 200 metres (withstands diving without equipment). The figure is shown on every product and can be used as a filter. Whatever the rating, the crown and pushers should not be operated under water, and a leather strap lasts longest if it is kept dry.
