GMT and world time watches

A GMT watch has an extra hand that makes one revolution in 24 hours, and a 24-hour scale on the bezel or dial. It shows a second time zone — home while you travel, or the office in New York — and because it runs on 24 hours, you can also see whether it is day or night back home. Dual time is the same idea with a small extra dial instead of a hand. A world time watch shows all 24 zones at once on a ring with city names.

See GMT watches; how the hand is set is described in the watch's manual (on most it is set at the crown's first click).

If you have a question about a particular watch, ask Nord, our assistant, at the bottom right — or write to us.
